Day 41
Week 6, Day 6
Today I trialled the ‘Eat – Stop - Eat’ approach, fasting 20 hours from 8pm last night to 4pm today and it just wasn’t hard – in fact I was more productive than usual and made good progress on my current assignment. At first the very concept of abstaining from food messed with my head quite nicely, thankyou. I remembered the long fasts I used to do when I was studying naturopathy and when I was also somewhat E.D. The longest fast I did was 14 days of ‘hanging in there’ and I don’t have fond memories. Then there is the other side of it. I’ve spent the last 7 years being sure not to skip any meals in case my metabolism drops like a stone. Then along comes Brad Pilon (Brad with abs? Brab? Brabby?) with a bunch of studies showing that this is just a myth. Is it any wonder if a girl gets confused? This is a radical departure from the norm, readers.
Anyway, it all went quite well, no disasters, no rebound snarfing when the fast ended and I will do it again next Saturday. Once a week is enough for me. I really need to be at home if I’m not eating. My work is kind of fast and stressful and the only time I get a break is when I’m eating.
