A popping sound... the TT daily W6,D3

As I'm typing this, I am attempting to roast some soybeans. I've just been alerted by a popping sound to the fact that instead of turning all 'crispy on the outside, tender on the inside' like the chickpeas did, they are leaping around in the oven and exploding dramatically, sort of like popcorn, but with a far less appetising end product. It's probably because I used canned soybeans and didn't allow them to dry completely before going for it (not that I'm impatient or anything). The chickpeas were cooked too but had been in the fridge for three days and were very dry. It's now impossible to buy fresh organic soybeans and I suspect it is only going to get harder. Even when I buy soy derived products such as lecithin or soy isoflavones for product development I have to check and check again that the item is not genetically modified. It's very difficult to buy non-GMO soy products. If you care about GMO and use soy products, I would make a point to look into it. GMO labelling has just become mandatory in NZ and it's surprising how many products are now tagged. The funny thing is, they put the 'contains genetically modified material' sticker under the fold of the packet wrapper and it's only a crazy label reader like me that will find it.

Ok, The TT daily. Rockin' on! Stay tuned for the chocolate cake incident.

TT challenge – WEEK 6, DAY 3
Turbulence Training for - 73 days (Week 11, day 3).

Ugh… today I feel a bit nauseous, as does everyone else that went for dinner last night, and it’s not a hangover! I’m hoping it doesn’t develop into something nasty, and for sure, my appetite has not been affected. ;-/ In my life I got through appendicitis, kidney disease and campylobacter without losing my appetite. The only thing that makes me not want to eat is heartbreak! Not a recommended appetite suppressant.

Eats.
I found myself in the presence of a very desirable chocolate cake at a weak moment and scoffed it. Most chocolate cakes these days are a complete let-down, but this one was pricey and just perfect. Worth the calories. However, I cannot ignore that this is the third week in a row that I have splurged on a Wednesday and I wonder if it’s either a physical or mental reaction to the fast on Tuesday. I’m not bingeing though, and it is not much over my maintenance level, so perhaps I’ll just not stress about it and just use those carbs to fuel an especially kick-@$$ Wednesday workout.

  1. Oh....'crazy label reader'? And there I was, feeling perfectly sane and normal about peering through my glasses at the teeny-tiny print on everything new at the supermarket....
