Mexican Food at Alvarado's
'Homemade' Corn Chips and Guacamole. Yes, yes, yes!

Churro's!!! OMG!
Alvarado's is a restaurant we used to frequent in pre-quake days. Back then, it was in an older upstairs venue that seemed charmingly creaky (squeaky floorboards, groaning staircase). Of course, we now know what happens to old and charming when the earth shakes!
Old Alvarado's building (upstairs - we used to sit there and look out on the street below). Source.

The new venue is not as atmospheric, but the food is still amazing.

Snacks
Maca Bars #2 (See Previous Post)

Smoothies. This one was Lime - just squeezed some lime juice in there.

  1. As a guy, I'm not 'in love' with sweeties like some girls I know.. however, for churros 'I die' (is that the right way to use this expression?).

  2. Alvarados!!! LOVE that place, haven't been in years.... where is it now?

Yum, even to a vegan your meals look delicious.... love all those salad creations. Big bowls/plates of "all-sorts" is my favourite way to eat.

    1. I just added a pic of the old venue. I miss it. The new Alvarado's is here:
http://www.alvarados.co.nz/ It is in a previous stadium bar which obviously suffered from ..erm.. the lack of a stadium after the Feb 11 quake. It's on the corner opposite the old entrance to Lancaster/Jade/AMI stadium. The new venue is not as good - it's hard to beat sitting by an upstairs window.

  3. Wow that all looks scrumptious! And we agree, churros are the ultimate indulgence.
