Today has seen an interesting development in recovery from the ear infection. All day I had squealing and popping in my ears and all sorts of weird auditory sensations. Sometimes it sounded like the world had a bad echo and sometimes I could hardly hear anything, then I could hear the water running outside but not the stereo which was closer. I think all these strange pressure changes have been a sort of 'normalising' process because tonight my ears feel almost completely normal. *wooohoooo*
Day 40
Week 6, Day 5
Fridays are usually when my eating falls off the cliff but I managed to keep my ‘end of the working week’ enthusiasm in check tonight, and last week wasn’t bad either. The trick.. is.. to not drink any alcohol, not even an innocent little half glass of good red wine. This works so well that I’ve sworn off alcohol while I get that lard off. There will be one exception mid February when I am attending a rowdy party at an Ouzeri. There is no point in pretending that I’ll be abstaining on that night; that would just be lying to myself.
I had physio this afternoon, which was another poking and prodding session on my forearm. He stuck his fingers right into a particularly painful little area right my my elbow and, besides hurting like anything, this caused my hand to lose all power – a very odd experience. He is still on the theory that my uber-tight muscles are compressing a nerve and causing pain in the wrist. The wrist is about 70% better. I tried a pressup and it didn’t hurt, but I’m still going to treat that wrist conservatively in my workouts.
