Finds from the nets..

Fact: women love to accumulate stuff.  It's probably primal: we love to gather. We can't even help it. It's genetic.

Physical, digital, it doesn't matter. I am, therefore I shall have 20 thousand browser windows open and never shut down my computer in case I lose track of something and never, ever find it again.

Below is a round up of some fascinating things I've discovered on the interwebs in the last few weeks.

1. There's a really amazing giveaway happening on the Fit to Blog blog. Perhaps you've heard of it? It closes in two days! Don't miss out! As The Programmer says: "be there or be hungry!" (classic pick up line, yes?)

This looks like a fun and funky book. If it was on Kindle, I'd have Whispernetted myself a copy already. Nell Stephenson wants to redefine paleo eating as less 'cavey' and more worthy of the '-ista' suffix that always denotes something hip and now. I'm not strictly Paleo (or strictly anything, really), but it is a style of eating that my body likes. Plus, the cover pic is motivating. She is shopping. I knew it.

In case you have missed it, Bodyrock.tv is pumping up the action. There are heaps of new workout vids as well as boob implants, hair extensions and the bendiest and sweetest new yoga 'flow' instructor I've ever seen. They are currently running a 30 day 'sexy by summer' (or, in NZ, perhaps 'sexy by snowfall'?) challenge. The time commitment is slightly more than the usual 12 minutes a day, but you get weekends off and you'll still be through it in less than 30 mins.   Day one is here.

The most un-yoga-like yoga site I've come across - because, when I think of the word 'yoga', I naturally imagine a fist smashing through the 'o'.... Apparently the founder, 'Diamond' Dallas Page, is a WWF champ (?). See, I know nothing. If you haven't seen  this video, please take the time to be inspired by the remarkable transformation from decrepit to healthy of Arthur, who is one of DDP's clients. The only thing I didn't like about the video is the drippy music. For Coldplay, there is a time and place, and that time and place is nowhere near DDP yoga, IMO.

Oetzi Part II

In 1991, Archeologists dug up a real live (?) Ice Age man that had the foresight to die with a full stomach.  More recently, scientists have gotten around to sequencing his genome, which has provided a lot of interesting data about his origins and the way humans have moved around in general. Over at the Whole Health Source, Stephan is fielding a feisty discussion about 'Oetzi's' stomach contents, gene sequence, migratory habits and state of health. It's fascinating reading, particularly for anyone interesting in ancestral health (the slightly misleading term which seems to refer to the idea that ancient foods and cooking methods are better for us).

And, lastly..

Who knew?

    1. The main host 'Lisa-Marie' has recently expanded her chest by so much I was worried she might have trouble doing a 'burpee'! But.. she seems to manage it! It's part workout site, part trashy reality TV over there. Doubly addictive.

    2. I'm loving it! Thanks for pointing it out :) I think the part train-wreck TV has me hooked, as I'm doing something good for myself while indulging.
